Tonight I ran late, about 22:30. I find these summer evenings so inspiring, and I run to one place where there is live music, so each time I am curious which song they will play in the moment when I get there (of course, nobody is conscious there of a silent runner fan who is running by). Oh, today I was listening to some good fusion jazz on Format Lab.

Sunday, July 30, 2006

I ran uphill downhill late in the evening, this time with faster pace. Some dogs were disturbed, in the dark they probably thought I was burglar or something, so they were barking like crazy. Fortunately they were from the other side of the fence. Today I ate very delicious, sweet and ripe watermelon, which is practically red inside.

Saturday, July 29, 2006

When I ran today, the wind was blowing so powerfully - it was blowing dust directly to my face, so I ran just a few hundred meters, and was not inspired to continue. Very soon huge storm began with heavy raining and lightnings as I do not remember when before. Luckily, I was at home by that time.

I ran later in the evening, uphill downhill path. Today I became interested in music theory, minor and major scales, and it is like whole new world to me. There is a good site where one can learn about it at http://www.musictheory.net/

Thursday, July 27, 2006

Today I explored same new path, this time a bit faster, and I was satisfied with it. Later, after returning home and taking the shower, I went to a friend of mine, where it was gathering of the people from our secondary school. We were laughing a lot, I just enjoyed it much.

Wednesday, July 26, 2006

In order to avoid one dog, I changed my usual choice of streets - and found a new excellent path, which is longer than my usual one. It is interesting, you change a few streets, and whole impression in running becomes totally different.

Tonight I ran unusually late for me - about 21:30. And one more thing, I chose one path that I did not run while ago, and I used to run it when I was starting this blog. It is sort of uphill downhill (yes, now I know it is not wise to start with uphill) distance. Back then I couldn't run it in one time without stopping, because of breathing. But now breathing was spontaneous and totally another story, I just felt a bit of strain in calves while I was running uphill part. So I managed to run it very easy without stopping, and I am very glad because of that.

This evening I ran longer in the park, to make up what I missed yesterday. Summer rains were characteristic for this day, one even caught me when I was finishing the run, but anyways since I use bus to go back home I did not mind it, and when I arrived it had already stopped. Later in the evening my best friend from secondary school called me, and he said that he and his wife are inspired to start to run too. I am so happy! Go for it, Maki and Aki :) I wish you much joy in your future running.

Sunday, July 23, 2006

I ran in the evening by the park, longer distance than usual, but it was not like those 20 laps that I did last Sunday, so I guess, someone here needs more discipline.

Saturday, July 22, 2006

I ran in the evening twighlight downhill and then through my primary school yard, to remember good ole days. Speaking of good old days, I heard that Stallone is making Rocky VI, I can't wait to see it - that will be interesting.

Friday, July 21, 2006

I planned to run 13 laps today which is about 2 miles, and therefore I started with slower tempo than otherwise, but I couldn't transcend my usual 10 laps, and time was 13:58 which explains my slower start. It seems my mind got used to those 10 laps, now I need to transcend that to 13 very gradually, to find a good tempo.

Thursday, July 20, 2006

I ran early in the morning to the supermarket. These days I am into poetry and aphorisms, and I am reading them much.

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Today I did not go out to run, because they were poisoning mosquitoes with airplanes, so air was full of that stuff, and I did not want to go out and to breathe that. So instead I was running upstairs and downstairs in the building in which I live. But I must admit it was not easy for me, I was losing my breath, so I took it very easy, and slowly - did not push anuthing beyond my limits. One should be very careful when running upstairs, and it must be done slowly and steadily.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

This evening I ran to the park, but not the laps, other path - shorter and with slow, very slow pace. Feeling inert, so I did not want to run fast. Later I went to supermarket to buy again what is needed for pancakes.

Monday, July 17, 2006

Today in the evening I ran 8 big laps in the park. Now I do not know how big is that one lap, but it is bigger than usual ones I am running on asphalt. There were a lot of people playing there with their children, and running, and playing soccer and everything. So it was very nice. I found my ping pong rackets by the way, and I look forward to play that with my friends soon.

Sunday, July 16, 2006

I ran 20 laps around the noon, slower pace. Today is Sunday, my day for longer running so that explains it. By the way, today is exactly two months of my everyday running - who hoo!

Saturday, July 15, 2006

Today I went to run towards the park later in the evening than usual, and therefore I was blessed with a beautiful scene when I was going back home. Sun was red, setting on distant horizon, and it was just nearby St. Sava Church, and clouds and sky were red. Beautiful, but I never have camera with me when I need it most. Earlier today I was strolling through my beloved Kalemegdan fortress. They are renovating parts of it. I found site of some photographer who knows how to catch Belgrade's beauty - you can find his photos by clicking here.

Friday, July 14, 2006

Ran today 10 laps for 13 minutes and 37 seconds, with difficulties. So, I did not run laps for a few days and it starts oscillating. Well, aim is to increase to 13 laps slowly and steadily, so I will not pay much attention to time at this moment.

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Today is beautiful day - it's my dad's birthday. I wish him all the best, he is very dear to all of us. Although he is half a century older than me, I must say that I am satisfied with our communication and understanding - we share same passion towards books and science. His greatest wish is that I become scientist. And I am such inquisitive person (but so lazy too), so we shall see. I ran today again in the evening, again downhill, but faster pace this time.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

Today I ran in the evening, downhill slower pace again, like I am Rocky Balboa or something (oh, he used to climb upstairs, but I do not do that). This is not good as running laps, but this part of the city is beauty itself - perhaps because it connects me with my primary school years. Once upon the time...

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Yesterday and today I ran really slow pace, felt like doing it. Today ran to the supermarket, because mama promised to make pancakes later in the evening. I can't hardly wait to eat them.

Monday, July 10, 2006

Today is 150th anniversary of birth of my hero from childhood Nikola Tesla.

He is a Serb who gave to the world his polyphase alternating current system (can you imagine world without it?). Although his inventions made others billionaires, he died in poverty in his hotel room in New Yorker Hotel.

He was a true incarnation of selfless serving and self-giving to the world, and hero of self-discipline and self control. Everything he did he did for the sake of humanity.

But who can speak more precise of him, than he himself. Here is his article Some personal recollections from Scientific American June 5, 1915.

If you wish to virtually visit museum of Nikola Tesla in Belgrade, you can do it by clicking here. Of course there is excellent PBS site about Tesla, which is worth visiting. Or you can watch the movie Tesla Master of Lightning.

When I was very young kid, I remember that I wanted to become Nikola Tesla when I grow up. At that time I did not realise that during his student years he studied every day from 3 am until 11 pm. At least I can try now to run every day - but Tesla, you are still my hero.

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Today in Niagara Falls a monument to Nikola Tesla is unveiled. I watched that on TV and was very excited - the monument is very nice. Later on I ran in the neighbourhood, shorter distance than usual because I was hurrying to watch the final match in World Cup. Italy won after extra time, in penalty kicks (during 90 minutes it was 1:1). If I remember well Italy lost chance to be world champion in 1994, during penalties at the end, but this time they were the lucky ones - and become new Campioni del Mondo. Congratulations!

Saturday, July 08, 2006

I was planning to run the laps today, but unexpectedly my best friend from high school times called me and asked me if I have time for stroll in the evening. So, knowing that I am no good for stroll after running laps (because I run them in faster pace) I went to run in park, to take rest in green scenery. I ran long but combined it with walking. Later on in the day I met my friend there, we do not speak often - but now there is plenty of time, and I enjoyed so much.

Friday, July 07, 2006

Today I went to run in the evening before the sunset, when sun is sharing with Belgrade streets its golden beauty. 10 laps, 13:23 was the time. Many more people run there in evening than in morning or in noon, so it is nice to see when people are running. It is always inspiration.

Thursday, July 06, 2006

Today I ran early in the morning, about 7 am. 10 laps and transcended record in 2 seconds, so 13:18. Yesterday France won over Portugal, but I was too tired to watch. I saw Zidane's penalty kick though. Now in finals there will be Italy against France, and it will be very interesting.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

I ran today 10 laps again in the morning, and made new personal record (which is not so difficult in this preparation phase). It is 13:20. I will continue running 10 laps for some time more, but then I will increase it to 13 laps which is 2 miles, and then I will try to transcend the time, to run that the fastest I can.

Yesterday another surprise for me. Although earlier I expected to see Germany in finals - Italy prevented that with two goals in the very end of extra time - 119th and 120th minute of the game. Both goals were beautiful - probably because players were not selfish, and made good combinations and passes. How it is beautiful when a human being learns how not to be selfish, and when learns where is the beauty of team play.

Tuesday, July 04, 2006

I ran exactly at the noon today, which was not very wise since the sun was striking my head like a hammer. But I managed to run 10 laps for 13:45. I was told that the inner circle of the lap is 230 m and outer is 280 m, so I guess I run 250 m per lap, which makes 10 laps = 2.5 km.

Yesterday early in the morning an asteroid 2004 XP14 flew close (433000 km) to planet Earth. I am grateful it did not hit my running path - it is so difficult to find one where you know exactly how many meters is one lap :)

Monday, July 03, 2006

I ran ten laps today, faster pace, and was quite tired when finished. It seems I will have to pay more attention to proper breathing during run. Tonight Paco de Lucia will play his guitar in Belgrade. My friend managed to get good seat in front rows, so he will tell me how was it.

Sunday, July 02, 2006

Today is my day for longer running. So I went to the track and ran 12 laps, which is approximately about 3 km. I couldn't do more at the moment, but I am proceeding from less perfection to more revealed perfection in running - so, every result is good as long as there is an aspiration to transcend it.

Yesterday was the most surprising day in the World cup. I expected that England and Brasil qualify for the semifinals, but it turned out that Portugal won over England (thanks to portuguese goal keeper) and France won over Brasil (current world champion). From now on I shall not expect anything, we shall see who will become the new world champion when time comes.

Saturday, July 01, 2006

Today while I was running I met my good buddy from the primary school, and was happy to see him again. I ran faster by the way, was inspired to do so. Yesterday Argentina and Germany played 1:1 during the regular course of the game (both goals were very beautiful). No goals in extra time, and two argentinian players did not score goals from penalty kicks (all german players did) so Germany won. After the game, there was almost the fight there, atmosphere is explosive under such kind of pressure. Interestingly, game was played on same stadium in Berlin where Hitler refused to shake hands with Jesse Owens, so before the beginning of the match players of both teams together with referees unfurled big "Say no to racism" banner. FIFA declared the quarter finals, as anti-racism days.
