This morning was really cold, and green leaves were the only proof that we are not in November. So I decided to run later in the day when the sky hopefully turn out to be light blue again, and so it happened in the afternoon. I ran again trough the linden street, and it was really nice, since practically all of the run was downhill.

Today the results of Montenegro referendum are made official. They decided to be independent from Serbia with 55.5% votes. I am personally always sad when there is disintegration, and always happy when there is integration, like for example in case of Germany with fall of Berlin wall. Yet, I wish Montenegrins all the best - they are our brothers and sisters. But is their decision wise or not - only history can and will show.

Cold and cloudy again here. Today is two weeks that I run regularly every day, but my running still oscillates and goes up and down. I will have to have more faith in my own running capacity, and not allow myself to be discouraged because of this. Just slow and steady, and everything will be fine.

Fresh, cloudy and cold morning in Belgrade. I felt that on my own skin, because I went out to run in sleevless shirt - but after about hundred meters, it wasn't so cold. I saw green fruits on one fig tree - I like little fig strudels so much, and no, I won't pick fruits when they are ripe one day because of that. I will just buy those little strudels in supermarket.

Shiny sunny day and hot summer time today. I can see small progress in my running and that is making me happy. Yesterday I read something that also made me very happy, and here I will quote it

"Some people complain because God put thorns on roses, while others praise Him for putting roses among thorns."

Fresh cloudy morning in Belgrade. So, of course my running was better today than on a sunny day. Now I am gonna listen to SmoothJazz.com on iTunes, and to plan what to do later today. I visited yesterday 7up internet site, and I see that there is a new kind of it - 100% natural. Unfortunately I cannot find it here in Serbia yet, to see how it tastes like, but I am also very satisfied with good ole green one.

Sunny day today. Running is still oscillating, but yes - I feel nice when I come back home and take a shower. I decided to google up more about running and exercises that are good for warming up. Let me see other people's experiences, it is good for inspiration sometimes - yet I have to start making program for myself. There can be no imitation in running, everyone has to explore and learn oneself. No matter if it takes a lot of time, everyone of us is a unique person.

Last night it was raining here, so I was lazy about running in the morning (no excuse for that) and I actually had some business to do in the morning, so I decided to run in the afternoon and to change my usual route. Since I was short of soap supplies, I went to the supermarket to buy a few - and was running in that part of my neigbourhood (near my primary school). One thing I was delighted with - there is one street out there that is full of linden trees. The street of most beautiful fragrance.

I ran just half of my regular path, because I felt some uneasiness in one hip - slight pain, and did not want to risk anything. Two reasons are there for that - I did not do warming up exercises properly (I have to pay more attention to that) and yesterday evening I was strolling for miles and miles.

Yesterday evening I was walking along the banks of Danube. People were throwing empty plastic bottles to the river, and their dogs would jump into water and swim full of joy to catch those bottles and bring them back. I was walking accross whole Kalemegdan, and even went to one special place from which there is a gaze on scenery made of ancient rocks and blue sky - that my neigbour and I gave it somewhat mystic name "the gate" (I will really have to take a photo of it one day). Play of sunlight and shades on whole palette of green made me understand why Monet decided to paint the way he did. What did our forefathers do without TV, I wonder? They just looked far away to distant horizons - there is great beauty in it. Far, far away.

Schorching sun in Belgrade again. I noticed that my breathing becomes more stable even if I am making bigger steps in running - which means that I run faster than when I am making smaller steps. Of course I have to be careful not to become overeager to make progress - progress will come spontaneously if there is everyday practice. If I am to use cybernetics language, I would say that there is some sort of feedback between running, breathing and thinking. In every way.

Very hot summer morning in Belgrade. Today my running was sweeter than usual because I took a piece of chocolate before the run. In weather forecast they say it will be raining in Wednesday. I found few days ago one really nice book about Impressionists and I am coping still with myself whether to buy it or not - but I will see that I do it.

Cloudy day today, very nice for running. My running still sucks, but gradually it is improving - so I am able to cover more distance without stopping, 10 or 20 m more, but it is still something. And too I feel that I am spontaneously "optimizing" my breathing technique.

Today people in Montenegro decide on referendum whether they will stay in same state with Serbia, or will have independent state. We shall see what will they decide.

Yesterday, there was Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Athens. It is competition for the best of the best national songs in whole Europe. Voting is done democratically - not by jury, but by people via sms. I voted for very beautiful Bosnia&Herzegovina song, which ended up third at the end.

Today weather is very hot and sunny. Due to pain in biceps femoris I had to run slower than yesterday - but I did not have the same problems and obstacles as yesterday (because breathing is also different) . So I guess, the good ole saying is true - slow and steady wins the race! By the time I finished my running today, the pain is gone.

Sun was behind the clouds, but still visible - the weather just perfect for running. There still is a barrier that I cannot overcome in the moment, so I have to stop and take a rest in the middle of the run. No need to feel helpless about that at this moment, I will overcome it in few weeks spontaneously.

Today I woke up later, had a headache - I guess I need to go to bed earlier so that will solve the problem. Sun is shining more powerfully after yesterday's afternoon rain, and since I went to run late - instead of cheering by birds' voices, I was cheered by automobiles. My running capacity greatly decreased compared to before, but it will increase in time again if I run every day.

Yesterday FC Barcelona became champion of Europe, winning over Arsenal 2:1

Perhaps you wonder who is current WORLD CHAMPION in Basketball and Water Polo. Of course, it is Serbia&Montenegro (former FR Yugoslavia)

Ok..so I woke up early this morning and first did warming up exercises, and then I went to run. It is compulsory to warm up first to prevent injuries. Belgrade is always nice in morning hours, because when you run - you can hear birds cheering you from every tree with their beautiful singing. Not to mention the colours of the morning sky. I have to admit that my running sucks, but it is expected - I haven't run for a long time, so I had to stop few times, and take rest. But most important thing is to be patient, not force anything, and have deep faith in oneself. And of course - to be regular and practice every day.

Tuesday, May 16, 2006

Today I bought my new running shoes. I am from Belgrade, 30 years old - and from tomorrow I wish to explore my city early in the morning - running every day. As I am not too good with paper diaries, this will be my running diary. There is some joy in running - that rationally cannot be explained - it just is there. I ran some half-marathons when I was younger - but today I am placing a new aim - to run a marathon 42195 m. I know I will be able to do it.

I am willing and eager to patiently start training and learning everything that it needs. And path of thousand miles begins with one step - so I am starting cruise on my dreams :)
